Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain XML workflows for digital and print publishing.
• Create and validate XML schemas (XSD) for various publication formats.
• Transform content using XSLT for formatting and presentation purposes.
• Collaborate with editorial, design, and IT teams to ensure XML content meets publishing standards.
• Implement and manage content management systems (CMS) that utilize XML for content storage and retrieval.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards for XML in publishing, such as NLM, JATS, or DITA.
• Troubleshoot and resolve XML-related issues in production processes.
• Stay current with trends in XML technology and publishing practices to enhance workflows.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Publishing, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience with XML technologies, including schema design, XSLT, and DTD.
• Familiarity with publishing software and tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress).
• Experience with content management systems and version control systems.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the publishing industry, especially in digital publishing.
• Knowledge of other markup languages (e.g., HTML, LaTeX) is a plus.
• Familiarity with metadata standards and practices.
• Understanding of accessibility standards in publishing.
