Job Description 

We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Copy Editor to join our editorial team. This role focuses on maintaining the highest quality standards for scientific, technical, medical, and academic publications. As a Copy Editor, you will ensure grammatical precision, stylistic consistency, and adherence to established style guides while managing complex content workflows within fast-paced production cycles. You will be responsible for refining manuscripts for clarity and impact, ensuring they are publication-ready and meet the specific requirements of global publishers.

Key Responsibilities 

Perform comprehensive copyediting and proofreading of books, journals, and academic manuscripts to ensure grammatical accuracy, spelling, and punctuation.

Ensure stylistic consistency and adherence to specified style guides (e.g., CMOS, APA, AMA, Harvard, Vancouver) and client-specific requirements.

Conduct factual checks, verify reference citations, and resolve inconsistencies in text, tables, and figures.

Identify, track, and resolve author queries, coordinating with project managers and editorial teams to ensure smooth production flow.

Edit and format complex scientific and technical content, including equations, math notation, and diverse layout structures.

Perform quality control (QC) checks on processed items to deliver error-free, publication-ready content within defined deadlines.

Key Tech Stack and Skills

Editorial Proficiency: Excellent command of English (grammar, syntax, and usage). Strong expertise in applying industry-standard style guides (Chicago Manual of Style, APA, AMA, etc.).

Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word (including Track Changes), Adobe Acrobat, and PDF editing. Familiarity with LaTeX, XML, or MathType is highly desirable.

Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of STM (Scientific, Technical, Medical) or HSS (Humanities and Social Sciences) publishing workflows.

Analytical Skills: High level of attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with authors, internal teams, and clients to provide clarity and resolve editing discrepancies.


Required Education & Experience 

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Life Sciences, Mathematics, or a closely related field.

Proven experience in copyediting, proofreading, or editorial roles within the publishing industry.

Demonstrated experience handling STM or HSS manuscripts for international publishers.
