Decision Support Coordinator Job description The Decision Support Coordinator (DSC) will ensure efficient submission of journal articles and operation of the Originality Checking Software – iThenticate, including top-level analysis of the originality reports. They will also manage the operation of online manuscript submission and tracking systems on ScholarOne and Editorial Manager ensuring effective workflow management of papers to iThenticate. Key performance indicators include rapid processing of assigned manuscripts and high quality of service to authors, reviewers, editorial board members, and journal staff. Straive is seeking suitable candidates to join its SME Editorial Services team that offers publishers SME support in peer review process to work based out of its office in Chennai, India initially working full-time in office with a possibility of hybrid working model later. Candidates will be part of a large growing team and play an important role in the success of the journals of Straive’s clients contributing to scholarly publishing. Reporting Decision Support Coordinator will report to Decision Support Lead Position Accountabilities The DSC role involves a wide array of editorial tasks including:  Performing top-level analysis of the iThenticate Similarity reports  Checking author-generated data entries and electronic files of manuscripts against previously published material  Ensuring peer review to time and required standards  Liaising with the peer review team to ensure effective management and support of the originality checking system.  Providing support for training, meetings, and workshops by participating, organizing, and collating meeting notes as required  Supporting a climate of continuous improvement by identifying own workflow process obstacles and suggesting improvements, sharing best practices at all times  Managing own learning, taking responsibility to identify and develop skills gaps and active knowledge sharing, with particular regard to peer review systems  Acting as a client ambassador with external stakeholders including authors, editors, suppliers, etc.  Handling confidential information sensitively with consideration for the legal and ethical issues that may arise due to mishandling.  Providing general administrative assistance as and when required Required Skills & Experience  Masters in any field of Science, Technology or Engineering  Basic knowledge of scholarly publishing and peer review process
 Excellent analytical skills  Excellent organizational, time and workload management  Ability to write up findings effectively as short reports  Highly responsive to email communications and good email communication skills  Familiarity with computer applications, especially Microsoft Office software  0 – 2 year experience in scholarly publishing or related industry Preferred Skills & Experience  Proficiency in computer applications, especially MS Excel  Experience working with iThenticate or Crossref Similarity Check & ScholarOne and Editorial Manager systems  Familiarity with industry guidelines on plagiarism, publishing ethics, copyright, and permissions
